Zhang Guixiang was an ordinary rural woman. After her only son, Li Jiangfeng, left three years earlier on a top-secret mission, no word of him had come, and the entire village rumored that he had died in the line of duty. To seize Guixiang's family home plot, her cousin Li Dehou and his family joined forces with the village patriarch Li Changhai, using forged land deeds, cutting off water and electricity, and other tactics to pressure her step by step. They even drove Guixiang's mother-in-law into a heart attack and into the hospital.

In her darkest moment, Guixiang received word: her son was not only alive, but thanks to his outstanding service, he was about to return home in glory. With the authorities overseeing the matter, the forged documents were confirmed by official forensic verification to be forgeries, and Dehou and the others were lawfully arrested. The village patriarch and Dehou accused each other in public, and everyone involved was held criminally liable under the law. Li Manjun was arrested for home invasion robbery, the village patriarch was removed from his position, and Dehou's family was severely punished under the law.
