As the true power behind her corporation, Aurora is publicly disowned by her parents at a celebration and replaced by their biological daughter Juliana. Cast out with nothing, she returns to the Rust Belt and builds a business empire from a food truck, using her sharp instincts to lift her neighborhood out of poverty. Juliana repeatedly attacks her to secure a marriage alliance, shorting her stock, cutting off supplies, and plotting a takeover.

Nathaniel stands by Aurora, publicly rejecting Juliana. Frank risks everything to gather evidence of bribery, and after Juliana kidnaps Luna in a desperate scheme, the police arrest her and the family empire collapses. Aurora builds a community center that transforms the Rust Belt, gets engaged to Nathaniel, and leads her community into a new era.
