Haleigh, a 21st-century architect, wakes up in a fallen noble's body. After years building a merchant empire, her husband Gareth cheats and leaves her with nothing. She allies with Hjalmar and agrees to marry his son Kane for revenge. Kane pretends to be mute and monstrous, but they fall for each other. Using modern knowledge, she wins the royal cathedral contract.

Gareth's family frames her, but she and Kane fight back. Gareth poisons wells and frames her for plague, but she finds the truth. His treason is exposed and he is executed. When invaders attack, she builds defenses alone, and Kane finally wakes and wins. On a new moon, they return to the modern world and reunite.
