At the banquet celebrating the end of the national college entrance exams, a pivotal academic milestone in China, Chu Feng, who had failed the test, appeared wearing a waiter's uniform. His presence drew the ire of Teacher Li, who scolded him harshly, while Jiang Chen and the other classmates sneered and mocked him openly. Shen Qingxue, desperate to bury her past confession to him, pressured Chu Feng to degrade himself publicly. Teacher Li even ordered him to pick up shards of broken glass with his bare hands, a harsh punishment reflecting the authority teachers hold in traditional Chinese culture.

Despite the humiliation, Chu Feng endured it all in silence. He needed the job to pay for his ailing grandmother's medical bills and saw no point in defending himself. Before the night ended, Jiang Chen smugly challenged him to a ten-year pact, a challenge Chu Feng quietly accepted. A decade later, Chu Feng had risen to become the head of Longteng Corporation, whose name symbolizes prosperity and authority in Chinese tradition, and the richest man in the fictional nation of Daxia, inspired by ancient Chinese dynasties. At a long-awaited class reunion, a significant social event for rekindling past ties in Chinese tradition, Jiang Chen, now flaunting his Maybach, a luxury car brand symbolizing wealth and status, and boasting about an impending partnership with Longteng Corporation, led the group in ridiculing Chu Feng, assuming he was still just a janitor for the company. But the moment Chu Feng arrived in a Rolls-Royce, the room fell into stunned silence. Even then, Jiang Chen stubbornly dismissed the sight, mockingly claiming that Chu Feng could only afford to rent the car and continuing to belittle him with unrelenting arrogance.
