Thomas Sterling conspires with Lord Ashford in a rebellion, leading to a rift between mother and son. Margaret Benson unveils their crimes and aids the common people, earning the support of His Majesty the Emperor.

Her Majesty the Empress Dowager willingly steps down in disgrace. Ultimately, the Sterling family collapses, Lord Ashford's coup fails, and Margaret chooses to leave the palace, embracing a simple life. His Majesty the Emperor restores peace by quelling the unrest and reassuring the people
