Sarah spent seven years being told to be considerate. When her husband's student got caught, he pinned her down and forced abortion pills into her mouth so the campus gossip would land on his wife instead. He gave her research to his mistress, took the girl to Michelin dinners, and offered Sarah fast-food chow mein for their anniversary — no spring roll, because that would be "materialistic." When Sarah got pregnant again, Chloe served her a cup of tea that wasn't chamomile.

Sarah lost that baby too. She signed the divorce papers and flew to London, where her best friend's brother stood in a doorway in an apron and said, "Welcome home." Liam Ashworth never asked her to be considerate. He fried her twenty spring rolls on their wedding night, replaced every white cup in the house with blue ones, and when doctors said Sarah could never carry another child, he got a vasectomy so no one would ever use the word "heir" against her again.
