Emily Harris was eight months pregnant. Robert Harris had his wife, Margaret Harris, take care of Emily's daily needs. Margaret Harris felt that Emily was bringing her bad luck because of what the midwife had said. She had never liked Emily Harris since childhood, preferring her eldest daughter, Sarah Harris. Even though they lived with Emily Harris, she still made Emily Harris wait on her. Emily Harris, heavily pregnant, cooked for Margaret Harris. Robert Harris frowned and told Margaret Harris to help Emily Harris and stop doing nothing. Margaret Harris told her to stop nagging. Robert Harris received a call from the hospital and left. Emily Harris was cooking in the kitchen, and Margaret Harris kept urging her to hurry. Emily Harris fell to the ground. At that moment, Margaret Harris received a call from Sarah Harris, who had been in a car accident. Margaret Harris rushed off, and Emily Harris begged Margaret Harris to help her. Margaret Harris thought Emily Harris was alright and turned to leave. At the hospital, Margaret Harris saw Sarah Harris and found she only had a scrape. Worried about Emily Harris, she was pulled back by Sarah Harris, who insisted that Margaret Harris stay with her. Margaret Harris had no choice but to stay. Robert Harris came out of the ward and saw Margaret Harris and Sarah Harris's backs.

He was about to go and check on them when a nurse called him. He had to put down his phone and go to help the woman in labor. When Robert Harris came out of the operating room, he saw that the person brought in for emergency treatment was Emily Harris. Robert Harris was shocked and immediately tried to resuscitate Emily Harris, but to no avail. Watching Emily Harris covered with a white sheet, Robert Harris knelt on the ground, filled with remorse. He had known Margaret Harris was biased, but believing that harmony in the family was paramount, he hadn't intervened. He never imagined Margaret Harris would go to such lengths. Sarah Harris and Margaret Harris went to the mall. Robert Harris went to buy a funeral shroud for Emily Harris and happened to run into her. Margaret Harris and Robert Harris parted on bad terms and went their separate ways. Because of Sarah Harris's obstruction, Margaret Harris remained unaware of Emily Harris's death. Until they went to a restaurant and the owner revealed the truth, Sarah Harris still tried to stop him. Margaret Harris returned to find Emily Harris dead and was filled with regret. Sarah Harris returned home but was kicked out by Mike Thompson. Sarah explained that she didn't mean it, but Mike Thompson revealed that Sarah had withheld gifts and money Emily Harris had given to Margaret Harris and concealed the truth that Emily Harris had donated bone marrow to Margaret Harris. Margaret Harris was filled with remorse and anguish upon learning this, but it was too late. Sarah Harris also realized her mistake and knelt down to apologize. A year later, several people visited Emily Harris's grave, collectively expressing their longing for her.
