Kate Reed, the Minister's true daughter, had once been treated as a slave. Forced by her parents to serve their adopted daughter, Libby, Kate was later brought into the palace, where she was forced to bear a child for the infertile Libby. After enduring years of cruelty, Kate eventually met a tragic end.

Reborn with a second chance at life, Kate was determined to make Libby and the Reed family pay for everything they had done. This time, she vowed to rise to the very top, where no one would ever dare to mistreat her again. Using the memories of her past life, Kate climbed her way from a palace maid to the position of Empress, while gradually capturing the Emperor's heart and making him utterly devoted to her.
