Summary notes

Upon hearing people at the village entrance gossiping about her daughter-in-law, Wang Guilan refused to be cowed. She stepped forward resolutely to defend her family's honor, shutting down the malicious talk and saving her daughter-in-law from humiliation.

Wang Guilan's courage in standing up for her daughter-in-law earned her the respect of the villagers. The village chief also took this opportunity to call on everyone to abandon rumors and work together to build a new, more civilized community.
