Sadie's family, seeking business favors from the Bryson's family, forced her to marry Bryson, who was rumored to be confined to a wheelchair and labeled a "pervert." Their marriage was fraught with misunderstandings and pain, ending in divorce.

Afterward, Sadie worked to rebuild her life but kept crossing paths with Bryson. Through her struggles, she grew stronger, while Bryson's feelings for her slowly began to change.
