John Carter, Hero of Mars

Framed by his commander, Captain John Carter flees Earth under a dead man's name and wakes stranded on Mars. Thark warriors capture him; he wins freedom in the arena and falls for fugitive princess Dejah Thoris. Escaping her forced marriage to a rival prince, he leads a Thark army to break the siege on her city.

When the enemy tries to destroy the planet's one air source, Carter climbs a mile of dead machinery to save it, clearing his name and ending the war. He marries Dejah and stays on Mars.
