Summary notes

At homecoming, Becca Bennett thinks the stranger shielding her from kidnappers is the bodyguard her father hired. He knows her name, carries her through a locked-down venue, and asks, “Do you want me to let go, or hold you tighter?” Then the real bodyguard arrives with the truth: he is Reed Carter, the Mafia boss and business rival her father warned her to avoid.

Becca should run. Instead, she takes Reed’s hand again. With kidnappers closing in, her father watching, and cameras waiting at a masquerade gala, choosing Reed may cost her far more than one reckless night.
