Lin Suzhen, a forty-year-old housekeeper, has silently carried heavy family responsibilities for years. Hardworking and devoted, she pours nearly all her time and energy into taking care of others. Her employer Zhao Shijian, a kind elderly widower she cared for over a decade, was one of the few sources of warmth and comfort in her life. After Zhao Shijian passes away, his lawyer reads the will aloud at the funeral, announcing that the old man has left all his assets to Lin Suzhen, his caregiver of ten years. The news shocks everyone present. Faced with confusion and gossip, Lin Suzhen stands firm, calmly defending her dignity and honoring the old man’s final wish. Later, the lawyer takes her to the luxurious manor left to her. Stunned by the grand estate, she realizes a whole new world of possibilities has opened up for her.

This drastic change pushes Lin Suzhen to reflect deeply on her self-worth and future. She realizes she has spent decades living for others, never once treating herself well. Determined to make a change, she goes to boutiques to pick out clothes she loves and treats herself to beauty salon care. Her appearance and demeanor are completely transformed, and she regains her long-lost confidence and poise. After careful thought about the long-standing problems in her marriage, Lin Suzhen decides to end the unhappy relationship. She attends her daughter’s parent-teacher meeting dressed elegantly, impressing everyone and showing her child a brand-new side of herself. Calm and resolute amid life’s challenges, she has open and honest talks with her husband, settling their marital issues amicably and rationally, embodying the wisdom and responsibility of a mature woman.
