After her mother's death, a lonely and insecure Elissa chose the handsome Nicholas as her personal guard, only to fall for him. Her love was met with evasion, leading to the devastating truth: Nicholas was the Emperor, using her to get close to her half-sister, Allison.

When danger struck, he protected Allison and coldly decreed that Elissa take her sister's place in a political marriage. Betrayed and abandoned, Elissa's heart shattered completely, and she severed all ties to her love for him.
