Summary notes

Noreen lost her parents at fourteen and was taken in by Caiden, who secretly gave up medicine and knelt in a chapel for three days to persuade his grandmother to shelter her. Their marriage, his idea, was happy for a year, until a misunderstanding drove him to cold cruelty and staged affairs.

On their third anniversary, his public humiliation pushed her to file for divorce, but when the truth of his sacrifice emerged, a drunken confession and a kiss collided with a divorce notification he refused to grant.
