Right before Alice’s Juilliard entrance audition, her little sister Sarah set off fireworks and blew out Alice’s right ear. She lost all hearing there forever, and missed her shot at her dream school.
But her parents, brother, and even her fiancé? All they did was send Sarah overseas. Seven years later, Sarah comes back home. The whole family forces Alice to pick her up from the airport and hand over her piano room. Alice finds out—they never punished Sarah at all. They hid her away and spoiled her for those whole seven years. Then hospital records expose the ugly truth: Alice could’ve had surgery to get her hearing back. But her parents stole that surgery money to pay for Sarah’s school fees, putting Alice’s operation on hold. At Sarah’s welcome-home dinner, Sarah uses Alice’s credit card to buy old headphones. She blasts the audition backing track Alice once practiced with, making Alice’s left ear bleed. And still, everyone runs to help Sarah first
