Ella Roland was a shark. She built her career on crushing the poor for oil companies. Then karma bit back. Her husband Thorne and their child were kidnapped by a mysterious organization. Three years of silence. Three years of guilt. When Ella spotted a tattoo on a suspect—identical to the kidnappers’—she stopped running. With her idealistic partner Julian and timid assistant Milo, she broke into her own abandoned villa to search for clues. Then the villa exploded. Ella saw a ghost holding a gun: her husband’s ghost. Or was it? Julian pulled her from the rubble. In the weeks that followed, their partnership grew into something deeper.

They took a case against the oil company and the water authority, defending farmers driven off their land. But Ella’s past caught up. An old farmer exposed her history of crushing the powerless. The farmers turned their backs. Julian spoke for her. Ella apologized. They stayed. Then a letter arrived—with a code only her son would know. The “Taipan” was calling. Ella lied to Julian and walked into the trap alone. A secret garden. A blindfold. And the truth she had been running from for three years.
