Lynn Gaertner-Johnston is a gifted trainer.

She has helped thousands of employees and managers improve their business writing skills. In her corporate teaching career of more than 25 years, Lynn has worked with executives, engineers, administrative professionals, scientists, sales staff, public employees, and others, helping them get their messages across clearly, concisely, and correctly.

Lynn teaches with a love of her subject and a pleasure in sharing its practical value. She is dedicated to helping people write more effectively.

Lynn is the author of Business Writing With Heart: How to Build Great Work Relationships One Message at a Time, which won two Benjamin Franklin awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association. Her blog, Business Writing, attracts more than 6 million annual visitors from six continents. She has been quoted on business writing etiquette in The Wall Street Journal, Vanity FairAtlantic, Vogue, and other media.

Lynn has written and edited customer and member communications, newsletters, ezines, medical training programs, leadership training modules, and other pieces for corporate clients from Nintendo to the National Cancer Institute.

Before founding Syntax Training, Lynn managed the training department at University Hospital in Boston and led a team of vocational trainers at Boston Technical Center.

She earned her master’s degree in communication from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Her undergraduate degree in English is from Bradley University, in Peoria, Illinois.

Michael Johnston thrives on helping clients.

Virtually never flustered, Michael enjoys figuring out how to remove barriers, simplify challenges, and make sure both corporate and individual clients receive the programs and products they need. As Client Service Manager at Syntax Training, he helps michael22clients accomplish their goals.

Before joining Syntax Training in 2004, Michael managed a Seattle office supply store, where he met the supply and equipment needs of several hundred corporate account customers. As a real estate trust officer in Phoenix, Arizona, he handled corporate accounts involving complex property transactions.

Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University.

Lynn Gaertner-Johnston and Michael Johnston are married in business and in life. They make their home in Seattle, Washington, USA.
