OUR MISSION AND GOAL

Our mission is to help employees and managers write better.

We do this by providing the highest-quality business writing courses.

Our goal is that everyone who participates fully in a Syntax Training workshop will communicate better in writing.

If participants—or their supervisors—do not see clear evidence of better business writing after their full participation in a program with us, one of two things will happen: We will work with the individuals at no charge until their skills have demonstrably improved. Or we will return 150 percent of the training fee for those participants. We guarantee it.

For each person, better business writing looks different:

  • One employee meets her goal of successfully organizing and writing reports for senior executives. In an added benefit, she applies her new skill and information to everything she writes.
  • Another employee learns to use headings, formatting, and better organization to communicate clearly with his various technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Another finds the answers to her questions on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. She gains the confidence, ability, and resources to write error-free letters, reports, and email.
In organizations, better business writing takes many forms:
  • Performance evaluations that inspire rather than confuse
  • Short, action-oriented email that saves time for everyone
  • User manuals that help customers become productive quickly
  • Well-organized reports that are easy to skim for key information
  • Error-free letters sent to clients and customers
To live up to our mission and achieve our goal, these are the things we do. You can expect these behaviors when we work with you:

1. We treat everyone at your company with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.

2. We work in a way that supports your company culture, mission, and goals. If for any reason we cannot work to support you, we will let you know at the start and will not contract with you.

3. We make working with us as easy and enjoyable as possible. To do that, we:

  • Respond promptly to your phone calls and email.
  • Make realistic time commitments and keep them.
  • Provide materials to publicize our courses, flexibility in scheduling them, and additional information by phone or in writing for anyone who needs it.
  • Adapt our programs to your needs whenever possible, and let you know right away when something isn’t possible for us.
  • Keep our sense of humor and positive attitude even when things go wrong, and do our best to help you keep yours!

4. We provide an excellent, well-planned learning experience for your managers and employees.

From years of experience, we know that your participants will leave the course glad they attended, surprised how much learning was packed into the program, and confident that they have the skills, tools, and information to write better back on the job. 

5. We make the best use of your employees’ and managers’ time. We help them improve their writing quickly—through efficient use of time in class; relevant, reusable examples; and valuable tools and follow-up resources.
